An Easy Way To Boost Pagerank

I thought I would share a useful tip that might be useful for anyone who is thinking about building more than one website. Whilst this idea is nothing radical and won’t necessarily jump you straight to the front page of Google, it is certainly an effective way to get your site noticed and ranked more quickly. Something that I have been experimenting with a lot lately, especially on any new websites I build, is the concept of linking to yourself. If you own any existing websites or have multiple small sites then this is a really useful technique that’s worth thinking about.

We all know that to get noticed both organically and in the search engines we need to build up a lot of links to increase page rank and trust. One obvious way to improve the number of links you have if you own more than one site is to simply link to yourself because let’s face it, in the early stages of setting up a blog or website it is going to be pretty difficult to get anyone to take any notice let alone link to you. If you have several social networking profiles then link all of these to your website wherever possible and use any opportunity you can to link to yourself. Even if the links don’t carry and weight in the search engines due to a “no follow” tag, they can still help other people find your website.

I currently use a hosting account with Daily.co.uk which allows me to build up to ten websites for a fixed monthly fee which means a possible ten sites that you can use to link to any new site you build. I actually ended up using two of these accounts and so I can link up to twenty sites to each of my individual blogs or websites. While I certainly don’t advocate just building loads of websites for the sole purpose of linking to your existing sites, if you have a genuine interest in building websites on numerous topics then this can be a great long term strategy. It means that if you ever suddenly get an idea for a new site you can leverage all your existing sites and page rank to give you a much needed boost when you need it most. In the early stages of setting up any website, trying to find even a single person to link to your site can be a seriously frustrating business. Even just a handful of decent links can get your site up and running much faster than would otherwise be possible. I hope this helps anyone who has been thinking about setting up more than one website. In the long run, owning multiple quality websites can be a great asset.
